News / Solidarity and the efforts of the Sorbs was successful
Members of the European Union of Arts have joined with their signatures to the petition and a written request from the Sorbs to the Bundestag in Berlin, and also to the Chancellor Angela Merkl. Budget Committee dealt with the application for annulment of economic restrictions in supporting the activities of foundations, associations and cultural activities in the Lausitz. On May 14, 2014 was sent to the official report of the Bundestag to organizations in Bautzen and Cottbus, that request was granted. Request from the Sorbs was accepted and even increased by 500.000 EUR to 8.7 million EUR for
the year 2014. This is good news not only for the smallest Slavonic nation in the world and also for the European Union of Arts. The German government gives a positive example for other countries in Europe, it is necessary to support the activities of associations and activities that create a harmonic diversity of cultures, languages and social life. From this perspective, Europe is interesting, unique and very rich.
