News / Sad farewell to Zdeněk Pšenica

At the age of 55, Mr. Zdeněk Pšenica, a member of the European Union’s art director, died unexpectedly. He has been the chairman of the Folklore Association of the Czech Republic for many years and organizer of many international folklore festivals, a representative of the Czech Republic and a member of the leadership of the International Organization of Folk Art (IOV-UNESCO). With his many years of effort and international diplomatic activity, the Czech Republic is today one of several world powers in the field of traditional folk culture and folklore.

He was awarded the European Award for promoting arts and culture and many other major international awards. A sad farewell took place today - on 13 July 2019 in his home town of Zubří in Wallachia in the Czech Republic.
